About
- I'm a systems engineer specialising in automation, scheduling, and cloud technologies, with experience operating mission-critical workloads at scale in financial services. I focus on improving reliability, reducing manual effort, and building well-structured engineering tooling. If you'd like to get in touch, you can send me an e-mail or connect with me on LinkedIn.
- This page is hosted using an AWS serverless architecture (S3 + CloudFront). You can view the full source code and deployment configuration in the GitHub repo.
Work History

Systems Engineer - Orchestration
Tesco Bank, Aug '24 - Present- Operate and enhance the Autosys scheduling estate of 11,990 jobs in 2,702 boxes across SIT, PPE, and PROD, protecting mission-critical Category A banking services.
- Led orchestration for the SAS infrastructure migration: updated and deployed 1,796 jobs in 535 boxes; developed new JIL; managed environment rollouts, shakedown testing, troubleshooting, cutover support, and decommissioning of legacy jobs. Acted as primary liaison with the SAS Upgrade project manager.
- Investigate and resolve complex filewatcher and batch failures by analysing job chains, Perl/CTL scripts, and file dependencies using Autosys CLI, WCC, and local databases.
- Develop Python tooling for job analysis, reporting, and automation:
- Built data pipelines with pandas to prepare job metadata for ServiceNow knowledge articles, improving visibility of job ownership.
- Enhanced orchestration team tools (workspace setup, deployment scripts), introducing PEP8 compliance, pylint, and Black; raised mean pylint scores from ~6.5-7.5 to 8.1-9.2.
- Reduced Medium-Risk Snyk vulnerability flags from 62 to 11 by resolving unsafe pickling, SQL injection, and path traversal issues.
- Optimised Bash and Python scripts for mass job actions (job reports, JIL updates, batch investigations) and used SQLite/SQL queries for root cause analysis and reporting.
- Perform Linux operations on Autosys and FTG hosts (including AWS-backed instances) to maintain file workflows, update .ctl files, create cron/Bash automation, and support batch troubleshooting.
- Use GitHub Enterprise (JIL, Python, Perl, CTL), ServiceNow (change/incident/knowledge), Jira/Confluence (SAFe Agile), Snyk (code scanning), Jenkins/CloudBees (deployments), and Copilot (assisted development).
- Work in a 17-person Orchestration squad (8 dev, 3 infra) within SAFe Agile; act as point-of-contact for SAS-related orchestration following handover from a retiring senior engineer and mentor newer staff.
- Pursuing AWS Certified Developer - Associate for professional growth.
